Capability 01
Space Planning
Optimised layouts that maximise flow, function, and light.
- Primary circulation
- 900mm minimum for one person walking through — a 450mm-wide figure with clearance either side.
- Two-person passing
- 1200mm for two people to pass each other comfortably, shoulder to shoulder at 450mm each.
- Dining chair pull-back
- 750–900mm from the table edge to whatever is behind: a 450mm seat plus the room to push it back and stand.
- Kitchen galley
- 1050–1200mm between the faces of opposing 600mm counters, for two cooks to work with clearance.
Capability 02
Furniture Curation
Handpicked furnishings balancing comfort, style, and durability.
- 2-seater sofa
- 1500mm wide × 900mm deep — a standard two-seat sofa footprint.
- 3-seater sofa
- 2000mm wide × 900mm deep — a standard three-seat sofa footprint.
- L-shape sectional
- 2500mm wide main run at 900mm deep, with a chaise return deepening to 1600mm.
- Circulation behind seating
- 900mm — the same primary-circulation clearance used throughout the layout.
- Sofa-to-coffee-table gap
- 350–450mm — enough to clear knees standing up while still reaching the table.
Capability 03
Lighting Design
Layered schemes that set mood and enhance spatial depth.
- 01 Ambient
- Even, shadow-free base illumination that sets the room's overall brightness.
- 02 Task
- Directed light at the height and angle a task needs — reading, cooking, working.
- 03 Accent
- Narrow beams that highlight art, texture, or architecture, adding depth.
- 04 Decorative
- The fixture itself as a visual object — pendants, sconces, chandeliers that furnish the room with light.
Capability 04
Colour Consultation
Expert palettes unifying each room into a cohesive experience.
The 60/30/10 decorating convention
A named convention for splitting a room's colour palette, not a measurement of any one project.
- 60% — Dominant
- The largest colour share: walls, ceiling, and the largest floor area — the backdrop the rest of the room sits against.
- 30% — Secondary
- A supporting share: upholstery, rugs, and curtains, usually a step darker or lighter than the dominant colour.
- 10% — Accent
- The smallest, boldest share: cushions, art, and accessories — where contrast and personality concentrate.
Capability 05
Material Selection
Premium flooring, walls, and finishes chosen for longevity.
| Material | Wear resistance | Water tolerance | Maintenance ease |
|---|---|---|---|
| Porcelain / vitrified tile | High | High | High |
| Natural stone | High | Medium | Low |
| Engineered hardwood | Medium | Low | Medium |
| Laminate flooring | Medium | Medium | High |
| Fabric upholstery | Low | Low | Low |

Capability 07
Window Treatments
Tailored drapery and blinds that frame views and control light.
Drapery fullness ratios
Light-transmission ladder
- Track width (reference)
- The fixed straight-line width of the curtain track or pole.
- 2× fullness
- Fabric cut to twice the track width before pleating — a standard workroom minimum for most drapery.
- 2.5× fullness
- Fabric cut to two-and-a-half times the track width — the fuller, more luxurious workroom standard, especially for sheers.
- SHEER
- Maximum light, minimum privacy — softens a view without blocking it.
- LIGHT-FILTERING
- Diffuses direct sun into an even glow while keeping the room bright.
- ROOM-DARKENING
- Blocks most daylight; a soft edge glow may still show around the frame.
- BLACKOUT
- Blocks light fully — the standard choice for bedrooms and screening rooms.
Capability 08
Decorative Styling
Art, accessories, and finishing touches that add soul.
- ODD-NUMBER GROUPING
- Objects grouped in odd numbers (3, 5, 7) read as more natural and visually interesting than even groupings.
- TRIANGULAR ARRANGEMENT
- A tall element anchors the apex, with shorter elements at the base — the eye traces a stable triangle.
- HEIGHT VARIATION
- Varying the height of each object in a grouping avoids a flat, monotonous silhouette.
- VISUAL-WEIGHT BALANCE
- One larger or darker object can be balanced by several smaller, lighter ones on the other side of a vignette.
Capability 09
Turnkey Execution
Civil work, services, and joinery delivered under one contract.
- One contract
- Civil work, services (MEP), joinery, finishes, and styling all sit under a single turnkey contract — one point of accountability from procurement to installation.
- Separately engaged (the alternative)
- The same five trades, each contracted independently — coordination and accountability then sit with the client rather than the studio.
